News and Events

There will be a Ladies Game Night on Saturday, May 19th at 6 p.m. at the home of Sally Bowers (130 Dove Cir). All ladies are invited and asked to please bring finger foods, favorite snacks, and favorite games.

There will be a "Missions Fair" on Sunday, May 20th at 5p.m. in the Riverside Fellowship Hall. This will be a great opportunity for the Riverside family to learn about the various local and foreign ministries that Riverside supports. Each life group will bring a dish from one of the foreign mission countries that Riverside supports and we are asking everyone to bring a dish for a potluck meal. This is going to be a great night of fellowship and celebrating the mission work that God is doing through the Riverside family. Please see Johan or Lance if you have questions.

The Mission Team will also hold a "Bake Sale" during the Mission Fair! Purchase your favorite desserts to enjoy after tasting the foods from around the world! Any Mission Team member or ANYONE interested in contributing baked goods for the bake sale are asked to please contact Paula Prejean at 288-4124 or paulap@thdlcpa.com. Thank you for your support!

Vacation Bible School is planned for June 11th-15th this year. (Please make note of the date change!) Please mark your calendars. If you would like to get involved, please see Corey or Natalie Harvison.
We will have VBS work days on
Saturday, May 19 and Saturday, May 26. 
May 19 - will start at 7:00 a.m. and will be construction of all props so if you have any power tools, saws, hammers, pliers please bring them.  Please NO children at this work day due to the materials being used.
May 26 - will start at 9:00 a.m. and we will be assembling and putting the final touches on the props and all decorations needed for VBS.

KICKS will have an "Out of School Celebration" at the Riverside Swim Club on May 24th from 5:30 to 8:30p.m. Pizza will be provided for dinner. Please bring $5 or toothpaste, deodorant or shampoo that will be donated to the youth shelter. We hope to see all of our KICKS kids as we celebrate the end of school!

We will have a work day at the Acadiana Youth Shelter on Saturday, June 9th. We will be painting the bedrooms. We will BarBQ burgers and spend time together with the children who live there after we paint! Bring a paint brush or a roller and a container for your paint-we will have the paint!

There are two summer mission trips planned: one to Zimbabwe (July 13th) and one to Honduras (June 30th-July 8th). Please prayerfully consider going yourself or donating to help sponsor someone on the mission team that will be attending. There is a sign up sheet on the Mission Bulletin Board in the foyer if you're interested in going.

The following 5th Sundays in 2012 will be Mission Sundays where the offering for that Sunday will be deposited in the Mission bank account and used for the Missions ministry. Please mark your calendar.

The Riverside Ladies Retreat will be on September 21st - 23rd at Tall Timbers Conference Center in Forest Hill, LA. Cindi Bradley from Huntsville, AL will be the guest speaker for the weekend. Cindi is an excellent speaker and has led retreats throughout the southeast. Cost for the weekend will be $120 which will include meals and lodging. (Rooms will be available for 2 people or 4 people - if you choose a 4 person room your cost will be lower.) A $20 payment was due on Sunday, May 13th and the rest will be paid before the retreat. This is going to be an incredible weekend of spiritual renewal and fellowship for the women at Riverside. Please make your plans now to be there! Information about the retreat is posted on the WINGS bulletin board in the foyer.

Cindi Bradley, the speaker for the Ladies Retreat on September 21st - 23rd, has written a book called "Monday Morning Coffee". It contains 52 devotionals of encouragement and spiritual guidance. We have copies of this book available for $12 (the cost of printing the book). Please see Misty Bennett if you would like a copy.
